[Registration Open] Public Lecture | Before We Know What We Feel: AI, Affective Sovereignty, and the New Interpreters of Emotion
To provide UEH faculty members, staff, researchers, and students with the opportunity to access new research perspectives, engage in academic exchange with international experts, and enhance awareness of the human role in shaping and using technology effectively, responsibly, and humanely in the future, the UEH College of Technology and Design (CTD) and the Institute of Smart City and Management (ISCM) co-organize the Public Lecture entitled: “Before We Know What We Feel: AI, Affective Sovereignty, and the New Interpreters of Emotion.”

The program is organized as part of the CTD Learning and Sharing 2026 series, featuring Dr. Ryan SangBaek Kim – Researcher at the Ryan Research Institute.
With extensive research focusing on psychology, cognitive science, AI ethics, and human–AI interaction, Dr. Ryan SangBaek Kim is expected to bring multidimensional academic perspectives on issues that are shaping the future of education, research, and society in the era of AI.
The sharing session will focus on timely issues of profound academic significance, including:
Responsible use of AI in learning and research
Challenges related to dependence on artificial intelligence systems
The role of critical thinking and human judgment in the context of rapid technological development
Psychological and cognitive aspects of human–AI interaction
The question of “affective sovereignty” as AI becomes increasingly capable of interpreting and responding to human emotions
